  • Tapestry Needle / Darning Needle – To weave in ends

Gauge

  • 12.4 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm)

Pattern

R1. Using Colour A Ch89, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (88dc)

R2. Ch2 (counts as 1dc from here and throughout unless otherwise stated) 1dc in each st across, turn (88dc)

R3-R18. Ch2, 1dc in each st across, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (88dc)

Do not fasten off.

First Front Side

R19-R25. Ch2, 1dc in next 23sts, turn (24dc)

R26. Ch2, 1dc in next 23sts (24dc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Back

R19. Using Colour A – Locate last st of row 19 from ‘First Front Side’ join yarn into next st, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in next 39sts, turn (40dc)

R20-R25. Ch2, 1dc in next 39sts, turn (40dc)

R26. Ch2, 1dc in next 39sts (40dc)

Do not fasten off.

Joining First Front Side and Back

Fold over first front side on top of back piece with wrong sides facing outwards and line up stitches across the top to make shoulders. Slip stitch across for 12sts starting from the outside stitch working towards the neck, leaving the rest of the stitches unworked you should have a space for the armhole down the side of your work.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Second Front Side

R19. Using Colour A – Locate last st of row 19 from ‘Back’ join yarn into next st, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in next 23sts, turn (24dc)

R20-R25. Ch2, 1dc in next 23sts, turn (24dc)

R26. Ch2, 1dc in next 23sts (24dc)

Do not fasten off.

Joining Second Front Side and Back

Fold over second front side on top of back piece with wrong sides facing outwards and line up stitches across the top to make shoulders. Slip stitch across for 12sts starting from the outside stitch working towards the neck, leaving the rest of the stitches unworked you should have a space for the armhole down the side of your work.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Arms

R1. With cardigan right side facing and using Colour A, join yarn to bottom of armhole, ch1 (Doesn’t count as a stitch) 1dc in same st, work 31dc evenly around armhole, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (32dc)

R2-R15. Ch2 (counts as 1dc from here and throughout unless otherwise stated) 1dc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (32dc)

R16. Ch2, 1hdc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg hdc (32hdc)

R17. Change to Colour B Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in each st around, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (32sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat on other arm.

Bottom Edging

R1. Using Colour B – With cardigan right side facing and front sides facing, place the cardigan upside down to you. Join yarn to first bottom chain stitch on left front side, ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in same st and in each ch st across until the end of that row, turn (88sc)

R2. Ch2 (counts as 1dc) 1dc in same st * Skip next 2sts work 4dc in next st * Repeat across until last st, work 2dc in last st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Collar Edging

R1. Using Colour B – With cardigan right side facing and the right way up, join yarn to first stitch on collar edge on left hand side, ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in same st and 1sc in each st around neck until the end of row (44sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
